FIRST VOLLEYBALL GAME

I know I'm not that good at updating my blog, but the fact is that I try to not be on my computer when I don't have to. Anyway, I had my first volleyball game yesterday! I was kinda nervous the whole day before the game since I've never played in a team or anything like it before. And I can tell all of you swedes who thinks it's the same thing as what we do in P.E. in school, you are wrong. There are so many rules, positions, tactics and other things you have to have in mind all the time.

At 4.30 PM our yellow school bus (american high school!!) left school and we went to Renville which is about 15 minutes away from Olivia. School buses here are NOT comfortable at all, and they don't have any AC at all. Still, I feel like I'm in a movie whenever I get the chance to ride with one.

When we got the gym we just had a few minutes to get ready for our game. I actually got to start the game beacuse I had been at every practice. We won our first period, but lost the other two. Even though we lost it felt good, I did better than I expected but I have to admitt that I wasn't aware of what I was doing most of the time haha. Hopefully I'll understand the game more and more during the season.

We watched B-squad's game after ours, and after their game it was time for Varsity to play!! I can tell you one thing, school sports are taken seriously here, especially on varsity-level. They started the game with cheering and running around the court with music playing, just as a professional game in Sweden. They did their warm-up and then it was time for presentations of each player. And of course, honoring the American flag as we sang the national anthem.

Varsity won their first game of the season (GO BOLD WARRIORS) and everyone was so happy for their victory! We had been at the gym for more than four hours when we left so I think most of us was tired, at least I was. I'm looking forward to all our coming games this season (tuesdays and thursdays) and I'm hoping I won't be as confused as I was yesterday haha.

Miss you guys at home, talk to you soon again!

sorry for the bad quality
